Please remember that we have an EARLY OUT this Friday at 11:40 a.m.   Buses will run early at this time.  We'll be eating our Wacky Packs for lunch, exchanging our small gifts, and doing Christmas crafts that morning.

We enjoyed our break from school during our Thanksgiving Holidays.  We are anxious now to resume our study of our multiplication tables.  We've learned our 0's, 1's, 2's, and 9's.  Now we have 5's, Squares, and Teasers left to learn before Christmas.  Parents we will have a weekly test over these.

We begin practice next week on our Christmas Musical.  This will be during our Elective's time each day.  The program is the evening of December 13th.  Students need blue jeans and a white shirts for this program.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, we will have our Math MOY and Reading MOY tests.  These will be 4 hours long and "true" to STAAR rules.

This week we begin to learn about multiplication!  We are so excited.  I do not teach the multiplication tables in order.  We will learn our 2's first.  We will make flash cards here at school, but another set at home would be wonderful.

This week we are working on our subtraction skills.  We have 3 digit numbers and subtract to find the difference.  We have made flash cards and use them every day in school. (it wouldn't hurt to have a set at home either!).  We took our first Benchmark test last week.  Parents, please look for these grades in the Graded Papers Folder that will be sent home on Thursday this week.  NO HOMEWORK on Wednesday.  It's Halloween!

During the first six weeks of school, we learned our place value chart to the hundred thousands place.  We learned to add 3 digit numbers with regrouping, rounding to the nearest 100 or 10, and probability..  We also learned how to use a "Whole/Part/Part" chart to help us with our Problem Solving.   We work daily on our Basic Facts and Problem Solving.  We are now learning to subtract with regrouping and with a "0" in the ten's place.  We will take a benchmark test  next Tuesday over all these skills.

This Friday, October 5th, is PICTURE DAY.  Notices were sent home Thursday.  Picture envelopes will be sent home today (Monday), and a notice will be sent Thursday.  Your child may change into "school" clothes after the picture is taken if they want to.
We are studying the history of "Come and Take It" this week in Social Studies.  We are looking forward to a
fun week-end!

Our "Graded Paper's Folders" were sent home this week for the first time.  Parents, please look at all the papers, have your child correct all failing papers and return them to school for a new pro-rated grade in the grade book.  If failing papers are not returned, the failing grade stays. (So sad)  There is no reason for failing in my classroom!  I do not need the 'passing' papers back.  Those may stay at home.

Thank you, again, for a fantastic start to our school year.  We're having a great year!

We've had a great two weeks learning about probability, tally marks, pictographs, and bar graphs!  Please continue to practice on those addition basic facts.  Let's be able to say the answer(sum) within 3 seconds!  We're off to a great school year.

We will have our first Math Test this Friday, Sept. 7th over tally marks, pictographs, bar graphs, probability, vocabulary, and basic facts.  Study sheets have been coming home daily, and the vocabulary cards (studied daily at school) will come home for a last time practice Thursday night.  Study hard and good luck!
